HS BLAX: Sharks come up short in Backyard battle at James Island

May River boys lacrosse suffered its first Region 7-4A loss of the season Monday, falling 9-7 in a hard-fought match at the Backyard in James Island. 

Rob Gadomski had three goals and two assists for the Sharks. Andrew Dromsky added two goals, and Reece Simonson and Mike Gonzales each scored a goal apiece.

Corbin Wiltse had a career-high 13 saves to keep May River within striking distance, but the Sharks struggled to find their shot all night, putting only 48 percent of shots on cage.

May River’s scheduled region match Thursday at region frontrunner Lucy Beckham has been postponed. The Sharks host Waccamaw on Saturday in a rematch of their 9-8 double-overtime loss to the Warriors in the final game of the shortened 2020 season.
