May River boys lacrosse has been on the cusp of becoming Beaufort County’s top program since its inception, and the Sharks can at least make a claim after Thursday night.
The Sharks picked up their first-ever victory over new Region 7-4A rival Hilton Head High, winning an 18-14 shootout on a brisk evening in The Tank.
Hudson Kramer followed up his school-record performance Monday against Bluffton with another big game to lead the Sharks, tallying six goals and an assist, while Rob Gadomski added four goals and three assists. Mike Gonzales also had three goals along with an assist, Andrew Dromsky scored two goals and helped on four others, and Whitt Beebe added two goals and two assists for May River. Ethan Sotiropoulos and Reece Simonson each had a goal.
May River was on-point at the offensive end all night, putting 75 percent of its shots on goal, and the Sharks’ defense stepped up with 20 turnovers.
The Sharks (4-1, 3-0) travel to James Island for a key Region 7-4A matchup on Monday.
The Seahawks (0-3, 0-3) aim for their first victory when they host Beaufort High on Monday.
