WSOC: Sand Sharks savage in 11-1 rout of Edward Waters

The USCB women’s soccer team dominated Edward Waters College on Tuesday, finding the back of the net repeatedly in an 11-1 non-conference victory in Jacksonville.

The Sand Sharks’ offense was efficient in both halves of the matchup, as USCB recorded four goals in the first half and netted an additional seven in the second.

Among the eight Sand Shark goal scorers, Madeline Matusik, Mari Kalvatan, and Anniken Brodersen led the way with two scores each.

The other Sand Sharks to find the back of the net were Aurya Downey, Lauren Wood, Marcela Shartouny, Abbey Recser, and Isabella Ahlen Jakobs.

The 11-goal offensive outburst was the second highest scoring total in program history behind USCB’s 14-goal performance against Florida Christian College in 2012.

USCB (9-7) will look to ride the momentum from the impressive victory when the Sand Sharks take on Edward Waters again Friday. The teams are set to kickoff at 2.p.m. at Fin Land Field.
