HSBBB: JPII falls to strong Spartanburg Christian squad in quarters

John Paul II’s boys ended their playoff run Tuesday, falling 65-35 to Spartanburg Christian in the SCISA 2A quarterfinals at Sumter Civic Center.

The Warriors opened up an eight-point advantage after one quarter and pulled away in the second, outscoring the Golden Warriors 23-5 to take a commanding halftime lead and coast to the finish.

Mark Knight led JPII with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Jeremiah Young and Jackson Ogden chipped in with seven points apiece. 

“Despite the score, I am pleased with our guys,” JPII coach Mac Tamminen said. “All I ask of them is that they play hard, respect the game, and represent our school well. We achieved that consistently this season.”

JPII finishes with a 13-7 overall record.
