The Eagles struggled to slow down Hartsville’s Cesare Edwards, who poured in 13 points in the first quarter to give the Red Foxes a seven-point lead. The McDonald’s All-American nominee finished with 20 points while Kam Forman added 17.
Beaufort High stalled Hartsville’s momentum in the second quarter and took a seven-point deficit into the half. But a 14-2 run to start the second half gave the Red Foxes a 20-point lead heading into the fourth.
Phares scored 11 of his 27 points in the final period but it was not enough to keep his senior season alive, as the Red Foxes poured in 27 points in the fourth to advance.
