May River’s girls took control from the opening tip and never let up in Friday night’s dominating 38-8 win over Lucy Beckham in the first round of the Region 7-4A tournament.
Freshman Morgan Scott continued her second-half surge at the offensive end with a game-high 14 points for the Sharks, and Charlotte Van Den Heuvel added eight points as nine different players scored for May River.

May River (10-4) will host Beaufort High (7-5) in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Sharks edged the Eagles 38-34 in the regular-season finale Wednesday at Beaufort.
The winner will advance to the championship game and could clinch a playoff berth if top-seed Bluffton — which already has a guaranteed playoff spot — defeats Hilton Head High in the other semifinal.
