WBB: USC Salk hammers Patrick Henry in opener

The USC Salkehatchie women’s basketball team opened its season with a 94-43 rout of Patrick Henry on Jan. 22 in Walterboro.

The Indians raced out to a 25-8 lead after one quarter and never let up, extending the lead to 46-24 at halftime and continuing to pull away after the break.

Mariah Igus led the Indians with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range, and added six rebounds and four steals. Andre’sia Alexander added 15 points off the bench, and Antwanique Walley had 12 points and five boards. 

Former Colleton County standout Omari Kirkland had a team-high seven rebounds for Salk.

The Indians (1-0) host Denmark Tech on Tuesday.
