The USC Salkehatchie men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 83-62 rout of South Georgia Tech in the Indians’ home opener Saturday in Walterboro.
Salk raced out to a 16-point halftime lead and shot a robust 45 percent from the field, including 10-of-25 from 3-point range, to prevent any chance at a comeback.

Ronny Walker Jr. poured in 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting and dished out four assists for the Indians, while Derrick Sinkler Jr. added 12 points, and Cincere Scott had 10.
Kharye Cayne grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to go with five points and six blocked shots, helping Salk control the paint despite getting outrebounded 55-42.
The Indians were stingy on defense, holding South Georgia to 33 percent overall and 5-of-26 from long range.
Salk opened the season with an 86-74 win at East Georgia State on Jan. 23, as Derrick Sinkler Jr. led the way with 18 points, Cayne added 14 points, 10 boards, and four blocks, and Scott chipped in 14 points and a pair of steals.
Salk (2-0) hosts East Georgia State for a rematch at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
