May River’s wrestling team used seven pins to roll to a 61-15 win over a much-improved Bluffton team in the Hometown Showdown on Wednesday.
The Sharks opened the night with three straight pins from A Nix, Snowden, and Eli Hall to set the tone and claim an 18-0 lead before Bluffton’s Cam’ron Darby stopped the run with a pin of his own.
When the lineup flipped over to 106 pounds, though, the Sharks’ strong lower weights took control. Jacob Nix scored a pin to set off a string of seven consecutive wins, including pins from Isaiah Wysong and Santiago Rueda and technical falls from Isham Peace and Jaxon Merriwether.
Bluffton’s Nate Elliston switched the momentum with a pin, but the Sharks quickly reclaimed it with a pin from Gabe Juarez before Daniel Ussery closed out the duel with a decision for the Bobcats.
