Former Colleton County basketball star Alex Sherrill is fighting for his life after a serious auto accident over the weekend, and LowcoSports wants to help.
Alex, 19, is a freshman at USC Salkehatchie, where he redshirted this season. A 6-foot-2 guard, he was a prolific scorer for the Cougars and earned Region Player of the Year and Class 4A All-State honors as a senior last season after averaging 21 points and 4.3 rebounds.
He was involved in a serious accident late Friday, providing the latest round of tragedy for the Sherrill family. Alex and his siblings — including three brothers and a sister who attend Colleton County High School — lost their father to a heart attack in December, and their mother, Susan, has relied on a wheelchair since a serious accident of her own in 2016.
In an effort to assist the Sherrill family during this difficult time, we have pulled out our remaining inventory of LowcoStrong T-shirts from our campaign that raised more than $7,000 for local charities last spring, and we will donate $10 from each shirt sold to the family. We only have 48 shirts left, so if we sell out we will gauge interest in an additional order to provide more support.
In addition, we have updated our online shop with all of our existing inventory and will donate 10% of all additional merchandise sales through Sunday to the fund.
We hope this will just be one small part of the Lowco community rallying around Alex and his family, and we hope it will inspire others to chip in. #GoLOWCO 💙💚🌴💚💙
