After having a promising 2020 season cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, third-year USCB softball coach Bailey Wigness announced her team’s 2021 schedule Thursday with the Sand Sharks scheduled for 52 games, beginning with a home doubleheader against Columbia International on Jan. 30.
The Sand Sharks are scheduled to play their first 14 games at home from Jan. 30 through Feb. 21, including a three-team round robin with Point and Rio Grande on Feb. 12-13.
USCB opens Sun Conference play at Thomas on Feb. 27 and hosts its first conference games March 17 against Coastal Georgia. Home TSC doubleheaders also include visits from Webber International on March 20, St. Thomas on March 25, Ave Maria on March 27, Thomas on March 31, Warner on April 17, and Southeastern on May 1.
The Sand Sharks will also play a home-and-home set with non-conference foe Georgia Gwinnett, traveling to Lawrenceville on Feb. 26 and hosting the Grizzlies on April 2.
The Sun Conference Tournament is slated for May 6-8 at a site to be determined.
The Sand Sharks were 13-9 in an abbreviated 2020 campaign after finishing 40-13 and reaching the NAIA National Championship Opening Round in her first season.
