A short-handed Beaufort Academy boys team was no match for SCISA 3A powerhouse Porter-Gaud on the road Friday.
Playing without Elijah Fess and Ja’Sean Lawson, who participated in the SCISA North-South All-Star Football Game on Friday, the Eagles fell behind 8-0 early and the Cyclones extended the advantage to 19-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Porter-Gaud then reeled off a 20-0 run to open the second quarter, and BA didn’t have the firepower to get back in it. Freshman guard Ben Frey led the Eagles with 10 points and held his own defending Harvard commit Denham Wojcik, and Braydon Dineen added eight points for BA.
BA (2-2) hosts Beaufort High at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in a rematch of last week’s 71-35 loss at BHS.
