Hilton Head High’s quest for a Class 4A volleyball title got off to a roaring start Tuesday, as the Seahawks breezed past Myrtle Beach in a three-set sweep in the first round of the state playoffs.
The Seahawks cruised to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-16) home win to move into the Lower State semifinals, where they will host South Aiken on Thursday.

Ady O’Grady led the HHIHS attack with 13 kills and two aces, while Kenzie Ryan added eight kills and an ace and Abby Jacobs contributed five kills. Setter Makenna Mason had another big night with 25 assists, three kills, and an ace, and Lily Edri added six digs and two aces.
If the Seahawks win Thursday, they will host either Aiken or Region 7-4A rival James Island — which earned an at-large bid and swept top-seeded North Myrtle Beach in the first round — for a spot in the state championship match.
