May River volleyball fought through four tightly-contested sets to defeat visiting James Island on Thursday and stay undefeated.
Each set went back-and-forth, but the Sharks were able to come away with a 3-1 (25-19, 27-25, 20-25, 25-22) victory to improve to 3-0 — all Region 7-4A matches.

Addison Black led the Sharks with 20 kills and Jordan Bigham added nine, while Brigit Hegan and Lillian Long contributed seven kills apiece.
The victory sets up a huge home stand next week against Colleton County and Hilton Head High, which is also undefeated.
May River hosts the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
