Bluffton boys soccer split a pair of road matches over the weekend, falling 2-0 to Rock Hill on Friday and winning a penalty shootout at Northwestern on Saturday.
The Bobcats were done in by a couple of mistakes against Rock Hill, which took advantage of an own goal and a penalty and denied Bluffton from finding the back of the net.
Bluffton bounced back with a strong showing against Northwestern, playing to a 2-2 draw before Alejo Hornos saved two penalties to help the Bobcats preserve a 4-2 win in the shootout.
The Trojans broke through first on a breakaway, but Bluffton’s Ramiro Garcia answered a few minutes later off an assist from Uriel Zarracan to tie it. Northwestern struck again before halftime with a brilliant free kick and took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Zarracan struck gold in the second half, finishing an assist from Davidson Alvarez, and the Bobcats came through in the shootout.
Hornos made five saves in regulation and two more in the shootout to seal the victory.
