T&F: Herman’s 1600 title leads Seahawks in opener

Hilton Head High track and field opened its season Saturday at the CIU Rams Invitational in Columbia, where the girls finished fourth and boys were eighth among 13 teams. 

The Seahawk girls had five athletes place in the top three in their events, including individual champion Tori Herman in the 1,600 meter race. Kaitlyn Holland had a pair of runner-up showings in the triple jump and pole vault, Tanashia Robinson placed second in the high jump, and Cynthia Gudaitis (3,200) and Molly Morgan (shot put) posted third-place finishes.

On the boys side, Max Baez (800), Logan Seifert (3,200), and Adarion Miller-Ransburg (triple jump) all had runner-up finishes for HHIHS.

The Seahawks will host a local meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
