May River girls basketball standout Emma Peluso was voted Co-Player of the Year in Region 8-3A, and Jermaine Bigham was voted Co-Coach of the Year after guiding the Sharks to a second straight region title.
Peluso, who shared Player of the Year honors with Wade Hampton’s Shia Kinard, was joined on the 11-player all-region team by teammates Gracyn Drury, Chynna Sneed, and Jordan Bigham. Kinard represents Wade Hampton along with teammates Dejah Smith and Jasmine McBride, while Lake Marion’s Antwanique Walley and Quanaisha Myers were named to the team along with Battery Creek’s Starr Reed and Ridgeland-Hardeeville’s Alexis Polite.
Jermaine Bigham shared Coach of the Year honors with Wade Hampton’s Anthony Elam.
