The Whale Branch girls claimed possession of second place in Region 5-2A with a hard-fought 48-46 home win over Barnwell on Tuesday.
Zhani Thompson scored 21 points to lead the Warriors, including 7-of-7 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Kynew Barnwell added 11 points, and Jazmin Diaz had seven for Whale Branch, which swept the season series from the Warhorses.
Maleah Williams scored 17 points, Skye Creech added 11, and Ausheona Hammonds had 10 for Barnwell.
