Whale Branch’s girls dropped a defensive struggle at home to open region play Tuesday, falling 38-26 to visiting Woodland.
Zhani Thompson led the Warriors with 14 points, but the Wolverines were able to limit Whale Branch leading scorer Kynew Barnwell to eight points.
The game was tied at 14 at halftime before Woodland outscored the Warriors 12-6 in each of the final two quarters.
