HSGBB: Seahawks pass road test vs. Landsharks

Even with their leading scorer arriving late after finishing taking the SAT Saturday morning, Hilton Head High’s girls claimed a quality road win with a 30-21 victory at Oceanside Collegiate Academy.

Despite missing the first quarter due to the standardized test, senior Miley Ray poured in a team-high 15 points to lead the Seahawks at the offensive end. But it was again strong defense and rebounding that fueled Hilton Head High.

Through three games, the Seahawks have held opponents to single digits in 10 of 12 quarters.

“Anytime you can win on the road, you’re happy,” Seahawks coach Sean Rochester said. “I told them after the game that there’s not a ton of teams that survived three games without a loss across the state.  But we’ve got a long ways to go and just need to keep getting better each day.”

The Seahawks (3-0) host Effingham County (Ga.) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
