Bluffton’s girls used a strong all-around performance to open their season with a 69-36 victory over Ridgeland-Hardeeville on Tuesday.
Tatyana Aiken posted a triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals, and five blocks to lead the Bobcats, while Samari Mitchell also had a big night with 18 points, eight boards, and two steals. Eighth-grader Tacoya Heyward added six points, five rebounds, and five steals in her first varsity start.
The Bobcats had the Jaguars locked down at the defensive end for most of the night, limiting RHHS to eight first-half points and shutting out the Jaguars in the third quarter before letting up.
Shyneek Swinton scored 13 points and Lexi Polite added 12 for the Jaguars.
Bluffton (1-0) hosts rival May River at 6 p.m. Friday. RHHS (0-3) travels to Whale Branch at 6 p.m. Friday.
