Hilton Head High swept into the third round of the Class 4A volleyball playoffs with a convincing win over visiting Aiken on Tuesday.
The Seahawks were able to hold off the Green Hornets in three competitive sets, winning 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-17).
Freshman setter Makenna Mason directed the offense beautifully for the Seahawks, dishing out 28 assists — and surpassing 1,000 for the season — to go with two kills and six digs.
McKenzie Ryan was the biggest beneficiary of Mason’s setting, racking up a team-high 11 kills along with three aces and 10 digs. Ava Edri added eight kills, and Mia Fotia had seven for the Seahawks.
HHIHS travels to defending state champion North Myrtle Beach for a Lower State semifinal matchup at 6 p.m. Thursday.
