Host team Hilton Head High is in sixth place after the first round of the Class 4A girls golf state championship being played at Shipyard Golf Club.
The Seahawks posted a team score of 378 in Monday’s first round, leaving them in striking distance of a top-three finish.
Daniel fired a 321 to take a commanding 31-shot lead over Wren, but the leaderboard tightens up after that. Belton-Honea Path is third at 360, followed by AC Flora (368), Myrtle Beach (375), and the host Seahawks (378). North Myrtle Beach (379) and PIckens (381) are right behind Hilton Head High.
Beaufort High’s Izzy Stone is tied for sixth after a 7-over-par 79 in the first round. Wren’s Chloe Holder carded an even-par 72 to take a two-shot lead into the final round.
Alexia Milbrandt led the Seahawks with an 88 and is tied for 14th. McKenzie Bradley is one shot back and tied for 16th, Grace Weismantel (98) is tied for 36th, Eliza Jane Coulter (103) is in 47th, and Kendal Wagner (111) is in 55th.
Play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday with local players’ tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
