Bluffton’s playoff hopes took a major hit with a 34-21 home loss to Colleton County on Friday.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 14-7 lead on Lee Kirkland’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Rakim White and Kylan Simmons’ 4-yard touchdown run, but they couldn’t hold off the Cougars.
Colleton County’s Chandler McMillen booted two field goals, Edwardian Stansel threw a 47-yard TD pass to Jeremiah Mosley, and Trakell Murray added a 20-yard touchdown run to give the Cougars a 27-14 lead late in the third quarter.
Kirkland’s second TD pass of the night, a 5-yard toss to Tre’von Brown, pulled the Bobcats within 27-21, but they couldn’t produce another scoring drive.
Bluffton (1-7, 0-2) needs a win at Hilton Head High next week to maintain any chance of a playoff spot.
