HS Swimming: HHCA, HHP swimmers win SCISA state titles

Hilton Head Christian Academy’s boys finished third, and two local swimmers won multiple events at the SCISA State Championships on Saturday in Augusta. 

HHCA’s Caleb Eidson won gold in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke to lead the Eagles’ boys to a third-place finish in the combined Class 2A/1A division. Elliott Lentz won gold in the 100 free, and Jack Ussery placed second in the 500 free and 100 back to help the Eagles compile 125.5 team points. 

HHCA’s girls placed fifth, as Grace Hilton won the 100 back and placed second in the 200 IM, and the Eagles finished third in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Hilton Head Prep’s Sterling Burd also won two events, claiming gold in the 200 free and 500 free to help the Dolphins finish fourth despite having only four swimmers. 

Beaufort Academy finished seventh in both the boys and girls standings. Emma Grace Dinkins was the top scorer for BA’s girls, placing fifth in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the 200 IM, and Joseph Patterson led BA’s boys, finishing seventh in the 200 free and the 100 back.
