Hilton Head Prep’s girls golf team completed its record-breaking run at the SCISA Girls Golf State Tournament on Tuesday, cruising to the team title and placing four players on the All-State team.
The Dolphins shattered the tournament scoring record with a 36-hole total of 571, beating runner-up Cardinal Newman by an incredible 105 shots.
Sophia Burnett followed up her opening round of 65 with a 3-under-par 69 in Tuesday’s final round at The Members Club at Woodcreek outside Columbia, easily winning the individual title.
HHP’s Mackenzie Gallagher (68-75), Maddie Frank (69-74), and Camila Burnett (75-76) also earned All-State honors.
“I’m so proud of the girls’ commitment,” HHP coach Steven Moe said. “Many coaches commented on their wonderful attitude and commitment to the sport. The Prep girls were often the first ones on and off the course. They practiced until sunset ever after their dominating day 1 performance.”
