Despite a first-quarter spark from Rakim White, Bluffton couldn’t keep up with a strong Richmond Hill (Ga.) team Friday, losing 49-17 on the road.
White’s 98-yard kickoff return touchdown — his fifth kick return score of the season — pulled the Bobcats within 14-6, and the senior receiver went up over a defender and hauled in an 80-yard TD pass from Lee Kirkland to make it 21-14 before the Wildcats hit the afterburners.
Richmond Hill pulled away for a 42-14 halftime lead and extended the margin to 49-14 before Evan Hayes’ 41-yard field goal as time expired capped the scoring.
The Bobcats (1-5) travel to Beaufort High to open region play next Friday.
