Hilton Head High couldn’t slow down New Hampstead’s talented offense Friday, falling 50-35 to the visiting Phoenix.
New Hampstead raced out to a 20-0 lead and held the Seahawks at bay in a shootout.
Gaston Moore had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and threw touchdown passes of 10 and 36 yards to Evan Elliott, and Sam Summa capped the scoring with a 25-yard TD pass to Jayden Gilliam.
The Seahawks pulled within 27-14 on Moore’s second touchdown run with one second left in the half, but the Phoenix kept gashing Hilton Head High on the ground and capitalized on a special teams play with a blocked punt for a touchdown.
The Seahawks (3-3) are idle next week before opening region play at Colleton County on Oct. 18.
