Hilton Head High charged out to an early lead and cruised to a 38-13 home win over Savannah High on Friday.
Gaston Moore was 8-of-11 for 165 yards and threw first-quarter touchdown passes to Cole DeMarzo and Elijah Thompson, and Lavarus Brown added 148 yards on 16 carries, including two second-half touchdown runs, to power the Seahawks.
Moore and DeMarzo connected for a 43-yard touchdown on the opening series, and DeMarzo gave the Seahawks the ball back with an interception to set up Moore’s 3-yard strike to Thompson. Eli Hickey’s 3-yard TD run made it 21-0 at halftime.
The Bluejackets got on the board with a touchdown pass in the third quarter, but Brown answered with a 24-yard touchdown run and added a 5-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter to make it 35-6.
Jacob Weaver added a 24-yard field goal for the Seahawks.
Hilton Head High (1-0) travels to St. James next Friday.
