Hilton Head Island’s Savannah Hylton advanced to the match play bracket at the USGA U.S. Girls Junior Championship this week before falling to the eventual runner-up in the round of 64.
Hylton shot 5-over-par over two rounds of stroke play qualifying at SentryWorld Golf Course in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to tie for 52nd and earn the No. 60 seed in the 64-player match play bracket.
Hylton found herself down three after nine holes against fifth-seeded Jillian Bourdage of Tamarac, Florida, but she won three straight holes to start the back nine and had the match all square through 15 holes before Bourdage won two straight holes to clinch the victory.
