HS Softball: Creek Returns To Lower State Tourney

Battery Creek’s softball team marched into the Class 3A Lower State tournament for the second consecutive year with a 6-1 win over visiting Strom Thurmond in the district title game Wednesday.

Alexis Ortiz pitched another gem for the Dolphins, striking out 10 and walking one while allowing one run and four hits. 

Emily Crosby hit a solo homer, Margaret Schubert was 2-for-3 with a double, and McKenzie Young drove in two runs to lead Battery Creek’s offense. 

The Dolphins (17-8-1) will host Gilbert on Saturday to open the double-elimination Lower State tournament.
