May River’s girls breezed into the third round of the Class 3A playoffs for the first time in the school’s three-year history with a 3-0 win over visiting Waccamaw on Wednesday.
Charlotte McClure started the scoring off an assist from Alyssa Kushner, and Kushner was on the scoring end of an Abby White assist to give the Sharks a 2-0 halftime lead. Kylie Nelson finished the scoring off an assist from McClure in the second half.
The Sharks, who have outscored their first two playoff opponents 8-0, will host Academic Magnet in the third round at 6:30 p.m. Friday. With a win, they would host the Class 3A Lower State final Monday.
