Thomas Heyward Academy kept pace in the SCISA Region 1-2A race with a 13-8 home win over Hilton Head Christian Academy on Monday.
The Rebels overcame a seven-run second inning with a relentless performance at the plate, scoring in every inning, including two or more runs in five straight frames. THA pulled within a half-game of region leader Hilton Head Prep with the win.
Bryce Tillotson led the offensive outburst, going 4-for-4 with a double, a homer, and four RBIs. Louie Smith was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Fulton Wade was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Peyton Bennett was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Rebels.
Wade earned the win with four strong innings of relief, allowing one run and three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Daniel Harrington was 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, and three RBIs, Jake Richardson was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Reese Malon had a three-run triple for the Eagles. Malon took the loss, allowing eight runs (three earned) in 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.
The Rebels (7-8, 5-2) travel to John Paul II at 5 p.m. Tuesday. HHCA (4-11, 0-7) travels to Hilton Head Prep at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
