HS Softball: Bobcats Fall Short Vs. Cougars

Bluffton missed a chance to even its Region 7-4A series against Colleton County on Wednesday, coming up short in a 4-2 loss to the Cougars.

After giving up two runs in the top of the first, the Bobcats answered with two runs against Cougars ace Whitley Weathers, who threw a no-hitter in the series opener. Katey Ryan, Parker Ray, and Reagan Kelly had three consecutive singles to start the game for the Bobcats.

It remained tied at 2 until Colleton County tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth, and Weathers retired the final 18 batters to nail down the win.

Ray pitched well for Bluffton, allowing four runs and 10 hits in a complete game with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Bobcats host Wade Hampton for a non-region game at 6 p.m. Thursday before traveling to Colleton County for the series finale at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
