Hilton Head High brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning but fell short in a 4-2 loss at Region 7-4A rival Colleton County on Friday, snapping a three-game winning streak.
The Cougars put up two runs in the first and tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth, and Lane Lee made the lead stand up, limiting the Seahawks to two runs (one earned) and seven hits in a complete game.
JJ Mlodzinski was 2-for-3 with an RBI double, Stratton Pollitzer had a hit and an RBI, and Daniel Keber was 1-for-4 with two runs for the Seahawks. Dean Seelbach took the loss, allowing two runs and three hits in two innings.
The Seahawks (10-5, 3-3) host the Spring Break Invitational next week and will face Pigeon Forge (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. Monday.
