May River erupted for 10 runs in the sixth inning to turn a close game into an 18-6 rout over host Beaufort High on Monday.
Olivia Turpin was 2-for-3 with a homer and six RBIs, Jordan Kovacs was 4-for-5 with five RBIs, and Hannah Manley was 4-for-5 with an RBI to lead the Sharks at the plate. Giovana Rodriguez earned the win, allowing six runs (five earned) and striking out eight.
Lillian Bearden and Carleigh Coolong each had a hit and two RBIs, and Madison Sanchez was 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Eagles.
The Sharks (4-1) host Battery Creek for a key Region 8-3A matchup at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Beaufort (1-5) travels to Woodland on Friday.
