Hilton Head Prep used a 16-run inning to break open a close game and claim an 18-1 victory at rival Hilton Head Christian Academy on Friday.
The big fourth inning overshadowed a strong performance on the mound from Hilton Head Prep’s Luke Foley, who struck out 10 and allowed one unearned run on one hit over four innings.
“Luke pitched a gem on the bump tonight,” HHP coach Chris Wells said. “To only allow two hits, no walks and go the distance on only 58 pitches was flat-out special. I’m really proud of the way he threw the rock tonight.”
Tommy Stauffer was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Gage Hurlbut was 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored three runs, and Foley and Connor McDonnell each drove in two runs for the Dolphins.
Daniel Harrington and Jake Richardson had hits for the Eagles.
The Dolphins (4-0, 1-0) host Augusta Christian on Saturday. The Eagles () host Coastal Homeschool on Monday.
