Hilton Head High opened the regular season by splitting a home-and-home series with Wade Hampton.
The Seahawks claimed an 11-5 home victory on Monday but left the tying run in the on-deck circle in a 10-6 loss at Wade Hampton on Wednesday.
Reagan Marchant led the Seahawks’ offense with seven RBIs in the first game, while Cassandra Ruhl, Alex Fisher, and Madison Boyd each had two hits. Ayla Clack went the distance on the mound.
Courtney Clegg, Ruhl, Marchant, and Boyd each had two hits each in the second game, and Fisher blasted a triple to start a late rally that came up short, as HHIHS stranded nine runners. Marchant settled down after a rough start to pitch a complete game, striking out six.
HHIHS (1-1) hosts John Paul II on Tuesday.
