John Paul II’s baseball team opened its season with a doubleheader split against First Presbyterian Christian on Saturday.
The Golden Warriors dropped the opener 9-4 despite two hits from Adrian Skipper, but they rebounded to take the finale 7-5. Hayden Jennings struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings to earn the win, and Ray Johnson recorded the final out for the save. Josh Horton led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
JPII (1-1) travels to Hilton Head Prep on Tuesday to open region play.
