USCB’s softball team continued its undefeated start with a doubleheader sweep of No. 20 Truett-McConnell (Ga.) on Friday.
Natassja Hatcher’s tie-breaking two-run single in the fifth inning lifted the Sand Sharks to an 8-6 win in the opener. Hatcher was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Kayla Boyle, Taylor Boykin, Shania Domingue, and Rachel Frankhouser each added two hits. Kinsey Sords earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Canyon Crosby scattered nine hits while shutting out the Bears in USCB’s 3-0 win in the finale. Crosby also drove in a run, and Hatcher and Emily Martin added RBIs.
USCB (12-0) will host Rio Grande (Ohio) and Reinhardt (Ga.) for a round robin Saturday and Sunday with play beginning at noon each day.
