The defending NAIA national champions beat up on the USCB baseball team this weekend, as top-ranked Southeastern swept a three-game Sun Conference series from the host Sand Sharks.
The Fire scored eight runs in the second inning of a 12-2 win in game 1 on Friday, setting the tone for a long weekend for the Sand Sharks. It went downhill from there for USCB, which managed only one hit in a 31-0 rout in the second game of the doubleheader.
SEU took the finale 15-1 on Saturday. It was a 2-1 game until the fifth inning, when the Fire scored four runs to break it open, then added three in the sixth and six in the seventh to invoke the 10-run rule.
USCB hosts Middle Georgia for a single game at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
