HS Wrestling: 7 Sharks, 5 Dolphins Advance To Lower State Semis

Host May River had seven wrestlers advance to the championship semifinals and Battery Creek put five through to the semifinals on the first day of the Class 3A Lower State Championship on Friday. 

May River’s Travis Tran (106), Ricky Romero (132), Jaxon Meriwether (145), Ryan Humel (182), Roderick Grant (195), Eli Hall (220), and Kailin Prescott-Ferguson (285) all reached the semifinals, along with Battery Creek’s Tommy Bearden (132), Larson McManigle (138), Syncere Atkins (145), Chris Appleby (152), and Alex Linares (160).

Wrestling will resume Saturday morning with the championship semifinals. 

The top four finishers at each weight class qualify for the state tournament next weekend in Anderson.
