USCB Baseball Swept By No. 24 Keiser

USCB’s baseball team was swept in its first Sun Conference series of the season, dropping all three games at No. 24 Keiser (Fla.) over the weekend.

The Sand Sharks dropped the opener 10-0 in seven innings Friday, as they were unable to scratch across a run despite three hits from Bobby Wenthe and two apiece from Nick DelBianco and Robbie McKinney.

USCB’s Eamonn Collins took a one-hit shutout in the eighth inning of game 2 on Friday before Miguel Casanueva’s home run sparked a two-run eighth inning to give the Seahawks a 2-0 win. Steven Mojica had three hits and DelBianco had two for USCB.

Wenthe went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs and McKinney had two hits for the Sand Sharks in an 8-3 loss in Saturday’s finale.

The Sand Sharks (4-4, 0-3) travel to Benedict College for a single game Tuesday before returning home for a Sun Conference series against defending national champion Southeastern on Friday and Saturday.
