Darien Watkins hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to lift Beaufort High’s girls to a 34-33 win at May River on Saturday.
The Sharks led 29-20 after three quarters before Beaufort can roaring back. May River went up 33-31 late in the game before Watkins’ heroics gave the Eagles their sixth consecutive win.
Watkins scored 12 points and Layla Warren added eight to lead the Eagles, who were without starters Brittany Linton and Lillian Sumner due to injuries.
Chynna Sneed scored nine points and Jordan Bigham had eight for the Sharks.
Beaufort (12-4) opens region play at Colleton County on Friday. May River (8-5) hosts Ridgeland-Hardeeville for a region matchup Tuesday.
