HSBB: The RBC Heritage Players of the Week For Dec. 18 Are …

The votes are in, and it’s time to crown the RBC Heritage Basketball Players of the Week for Dec. 18.

On the girls side, Beaufort Academy’s Amelia Huebel (38.28%) made a late push to edge Hilton Head High’s McKenzie Ryan (37.21) for the fan vote. But that wasn’t enough to unseat John Paul II’s Tkai DeVore, who once again swept the four-person voting committee’s ballots after averaging 24 points, 15 rebounds, seven steals, and four assists in two games last week.

On the boys side, John Paul II’s Sam Summa (39.89) won the fan vote by a comfortable margin over Beaufort Academy’s Jaylen Reeves (25.13). Our panel went another direction, though, with Thomas Heyward’s Trey Pusha earning one vote and Ridgeland-Hardeeville’s Rashamel Butler garnering the other three to take the top honors. Butler collected 18 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, and four steals in the Jaguars’ only game of the week, a win over Bluffton.

Congrats to our winners, Tkai DeVore and Rashamel Butler, as well as all of the nominees, and thanks for voting.
