HSFB: Rebels Clean Up All-Region Awards

The awards have started to roll in for Thomas Heyward following an undefeated season that culminated with a SCISA 1A state championship.

Nic Shuford was named the SCISA Region 2-1A Coach of the Year, versatile star Trey Pusha was named the overall Player of the Year, and fullback River Pender was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year by the region’s coaches.

Another 13 Rebels earned first-team All-Region honors — Chipper Hammond, Evan Brazil, Bobby Payne, Bruzza Pusha, Dalton Hayes, Jake Masters, John Hampton Hewlett, Bryce Tillotson, Joe Gibson, Timber Hexamer, JR Patterson, Therion Cannon, and CJ Cleland.

Four players were named second-team All-Region — Josh Arzillo, Caleb Tufts, Peyton Scott, and Mike Bacon.

Pusha, Tillotson, Brazil, Hexamer, Patterson, Payne and Cannon also were selected to compete in the National Athletic Association of Private Schools All-American Game on Jan. 5 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The Rebels (13-0) will play Autaga Academy (Ala.) in the NAAPS Patriot Bowl on Dec. 8 in Gatlinburg.
