Beaufort Academy’s girls opened their season with a 49-42 win over Colleton Prep on Wednesday in the first round of the John Paul II Tournament.
Amelia Huebel scored 18 points and Mary Hanna Hiers added 16 to lead the Eagles. Maeve Kalady added seven points and Emily Ann Hiers scored five for BA.
The Eagles (1-0) will face host John Paul II in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
