May River’s magical season came to a close with a 38-2 road loss to defending state champion Dillon on Friday.
The Wildcats scored two defensive touchdowns and slowed down the Sharks’ powerful rushing attack en route to their 26th consecutive win. Dillon quarterback Jay Lester rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns, Corrian Wright added two touchdowns, and Nemo Squires had a rushing score.
Dillon led 18-0 at halftime and put it out of reach with two quick scores in the third quarter, as Lester scored on a 10-yard run and Wright stripped the ball and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown on May River’s first possession of the half.
Ahmad Green rushed for 92 yards on 23 carries and Brandon Morales added 83 yards on 16 carries for the Sharks.
May River finished its third season with a 12-1 record.
