John Paul II’s boys rallied from a halftime deficit to take a one-point lead into the fourth quarter before falling 40-37 to visiting St. Andrew’s in their season opener Monday.
The Golden Warriors led 33-32 after three quarters but managed only four points in the final period. Rashad Battiste scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, Sam Summa collected nine points and 10 boards, and Mark Knight had four steals and five assists for JPII.
The Golden Warriors (0-1) are off until hosting their own tournament from Nov. 28-30.
