Bluffton struggled to execute on both sides of the ball in a season-ending 28-3 home loss to Wilson in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Friday.
The Bobcats were out of sorts from the start, as a botched punt snap on their first possession gave the Tigers the ball at the 21-yard line, leading to a 21-yard Yavin Smith touchdown run on Wilson’s second offensive play.
Evan Hayes drilled a 47-yard field goal to get the Bobcats on the board in the final minute of the first quarter, but that was the only scoring for Bluffton.
The Bobcats (5-5) drove into the red zone three times, but they fumbled on the 2-yard line once and were stopped on two fourth-down plays inside the 15. Bluffton was plagued by dropped passes and missed assignments, and the Tigers were able to take advantage.
Yavin Smith and quarterback Zayshaun Rice each had a rushing touchdown, and Rice threw a pair of touchdown passes to Antwan Smith.
